Launching CritEcoCare: A Greener Future for Clinical Products

What if choosing sustainable clinical products was as simple as checking a score?

Clinical Entrepreneur Clare Nash has launched a  website and beta tool called CritEcoCare, which aims to empower NHS teams and suppliers to assess the environmental impact of medical devices in minutes—driving greener decisions across healthcare.

CritEcoCare is a pioneering digital tool designed to support sustainability in healthcare. CritEcoCare enables clinical staff, procurement teams, and suppliers to input data about one or more clinical products or medical devices and receive a green score. The higher the score, the more environmentally friendly the product—making it easier to compare options and make informed, sustainable choices.

This innovation was developed as part of Clare Nash’s journey through the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP). Clare, a nurse and Head of Clinical Products Management joined the CEP as part of cohort 8.

Clare says: “Thanks to the CEP, I have been able to start my own business, create a website and launch my tool. All in 18 months while still working full time in the NHS.”

CritEcoCare is a practical response to the growing need for greener healthcare solutions, offering transparency and actionable insights to reduce the sector’s environmental impact.

Clare’s website also serves as a hub for updates, resources, and future developments of the tool. It reflects her commitment to combining clinical expertise with sustainability and digital innovation. Whether you’re a clinician, buyer, or supplier, CritEcoCare offers a simple yet powerful way to contribute to a more sustainable NHS.
