Our Entrepreneurs: Dr Hannan Chaudery

Meet #OurEntrepreneurs. Today we welcome Dr Hannan Chaudery, Specialist Doctor in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care & CTO at GP Triage at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

I am a dual specialist doctor in intensive care medicine and anaesthesia with a background in data science. I am also the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of GP Triage Ltd, a Clinical Entrepreneur with extensive experience at the intersection of digital health, clinical risk governance, and AI implementation in the NHS.

We’re addressing the urgent access crisis in general practice. Every month, over 35 million GP appointments are requested, yet many are allocated inefficiently. Receptionists—who lack clinical training—often assign appointments without medical oversight. This leads to urgent cases waiting too long, while non-urgent ones are seen too soon. The result? Avoidable clinical risk, GP burnout, and widespread patient dissatisfaction.

This is a fundamental systems issue—one that our AI-driven platform is uniquely positioned to solve.

GP Triage is an AI-powered digital triage and appointment booking system designed to modernise access to NHS primary care. It allows patients to book appointments online—24/7, in over 17 languages—and prioritises them based on clinical need, not the time they called. For clinicians, it significantly reduces the burden of manual triage, freeing up time for care rather than admin.

Our ambition is clear: to improve patient safety, streamline NHS workflows, and eliminate the 8am bottleneck that frustrates both patients and staff.

I first heard about the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme through colleagues who had completed it in previous years. I applied because I want to scale GP Triage safely, effectively, and with the guidance of NHS-aligned mentors. What excites me most is the opportunity to connect with a network of like-minded innovators—people committed to driving meaningful change in the system, not just through technology, but by improving patient care.

Through the programme, I hope to deepen my understanding of NHS procurement pathways and navigate regulatory and governance frameworks with greater confidence. I’m also looking to open doors to wider adoption of GP Triage across the NHS. Just as important is the opportunity for mentorship and peer support—structured environments that bring together clinical, technical, and entrepreneurial perspectives are rare, and I’m excited to learn from others who are equally committed to transforming healthcare. Over the next 12 months, my goal is to expand GP Triage to at least 20 NHS GP practices and establish partnerships with integrated care systems. We also plan to enhance our data analytics capabilities to better support population health management and proactive care planning.

The reality is that the system we’re working in was built for a different era. Innovation—when done safely and collaboratively—isn’t just about introducing new technology. It’s about redesigning workflows, improving outcomes, and making the NHS more sustainable. With rising demand and finite resources, innovation isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.
