Cohort 7 Clinical Entrepreneur Suzanne Vernazza, Pelvic Health Physiotherapist and founding director of Know Your Floors CIC, featured on BBC Breakfast on Friday the 12th of January, to raise important awareness of pelvic health and prolapse.

Founded in 2021, Know Your Floors provides education about pelvic health and related taboo subjects, to ensure that everyone can learn how to prevent and treat pelvic health issues. Supported by The Newcastle Upon Type Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts innovation team and the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme, Know Your Floors reach continually expands to make a difference for more people with pelvic floor dysfunction.

To engage a wider audience and raise awareness of pelvic floor exercises, Suzanne created the #squeezealong™️ on social media. The videos transform these exercises into fun activities, squeezing along to upbeat music and facilitating challenges. To date, the KnowYourFloors TikTok account has over 600,000 followers and 5 million likes, helping to dispel myths, provide important information and strengthen pelvic floors around the world.

In addition, Suzanne was approached to be featured in the BBC documentary named ‘My Prolapse & me’ due to her work compiling a healthcare practitioner e-learning course named ‘The Postnatal Care Guide’. The guide aims to help those doing postnatal checks to better screen and signpost for physical and mental health in the postnatal period as currently GPs have limited/no formal training in this area.

The ‘My prolapse and Me’ documentary explores pelvic organ prolapse patient stories, to reduce stigma around pelvic health and encourage people to access support for any symptoms they develop.
