Why did you choose to become a mentor on the NHS CEP, are you enjoying the experience and how have you supported your mentee/s so far?
”I believe the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme is full of some of the most extraordinary minds, with a capacity to deeply change healthcare in the UK – it is an honour, privilege and (I feel) a responsibility to support, nurture and invest in that potential.
Since only recently joining the programme, I have found the quality, variety, and energy of the founders I have spoken to startling, and I am excited to continue to meet fascinating people and help make part of a legacy that I leave to the world.”
What do you think makes a good mentor and can you see the impact that mentoring is having on your mentee?
”I believe it is vital to be patient & empathic (this is their baby) while at the same time taking responsibility to act provocatively and with candour (it still needs to be commercially viable).
I am looking forward to supporting clinical entrepreneurs as a mentor, attending more events, and having further impactful conversations.”
What is the best piece of advice you have been given in your professional career?
”Be curious more than cautious, have people’s backs when you’re meant to and breed courage into others.”
What would you say to someone who is considering becoming a mentor with the NHS CEP?
‘’If you come with sincerity and commitment, seize this opportunity with both hands.’’
