This follows the mandate made by national
government that the NHS, as the UKs biggest employer, is committed to reaching its net zero target by 2040.In 2021, NHS England’s SBRI Healthcare support programme implemented its first funding competition targeting green initiatives that would support delivering a net zero NHS. As part of the development grant, the programme offered innovators a package of support, including matching innovators with Greener NHS.

The guidance builds on feedback from small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) who were involved with the programmes and covers:

  • When to invest sustainably
  • What to consider
  • The NHS sustainability timeline.

It also includes resources to help you on your sustainability journey.
